So he founded a fledgling charity, Life Is Good No Matter What, using a motto from his sister, Holly (Haslinger) Sneider, 39, a Milan resident who died of cancer at Stein Hospice on Nov. 12, 2011.
"Our goal is to give a break for adults with advanced cancer," Haslinger said. "Let them go to Chicago to see the Rolling Stones. Let's take them to their favorite restaurant with their family."
Last month, the charity helped its first patient.
Vickie Milner, 59, a Perkins Township resident, got picked up in a limousine last month with seven family members, taken to a restaurant, and then treated to a Christmas concert by the Akron Symphony Orchestra. The family had front row seats and Milner's three grandchildren were invited onstage by guest conductor Carl Topilow, who also is the conductor for Sandusky's Firelands Symphony Orchestra.
Milner has been battling breast cancer which she said is incurable but manageable.
