I attended the flu clinic Friday at the Erie County Health Department, hoping to get the H1N1 vaccine. We all know there are shortages, confusion over who gets what dosage, and what form it comes in. I recognize it is a crap shoot as to whether or not my government can protect me or not.

My complaint is not for any of that. The person in charge of this clinic, I guess since she never identified herself, stopped me before I could obtain the application, and then in the presence of other workers, and other patients, began to question why I was even there. Her expertise as a technician may be excellent, but she should not be allowed in the same location as patients since she showed no people skills whatever.

I understand she had rules to follow concerning who gets the vaccine, but she doesn't need to force people to publicly plead to be considered and then banish them in front of everyone without even allowing them to complete the forms or taking them asside to explain why they are not worthy to do so. The reason I was turned down was because I was over 49. We were several minutes into my public humiliation before she even asked how old I was.
