LETTER: Learn from your church

Within the last two weeks I've had to get out of my car and stop two fights. The last fight was a young man beating a young lady.

What is wrong with us? I also was taught if you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.

There was a time when the church was the heartbeat of the community. It is not that way anymore. Our own petty jealousy is destroying our neighborhoods and our community.

Losers can't create winners. Most of us are worried about the Blue Streaks. Well Blue Streaks are created when we teach our children to get off the streets. What our children need is for the church to once again become the heartbeat. My prayer was to come back and help my community, but all I ever got was rejection. I was taught "a winner never quits and a quitter never wins." So in all the rejections I won't quit loving Sandusky and our community. My friend Jesus made me a winner and will do the same for you.

Yes, we can keep using the same excuses. It's the parents fault. Well, here's a news flash. The parents are babies too! See, I can identify with the problem but I was blessed to have a father and mother who kept me in line. Constantly told you don't want anybody else to raise our children. A father and mother who gave me good advice. Today children need the church, not to entertain, but to teach them how to live life.
