The Firelands area generally has been doing better than Ohio as a whole. From January to August 2009, total home sales were down 10.7 percent in the Firelands compared with the like months of 2008, but were down 14.4 percent statewide.

Len Partin, president of the Firelands Association of Realtors, said he has not had time to study Thursday’s numbers closely but believes the August results may not mean much.

“I personally feel it’s just a hiccup in the market,” said Partin, speaking by telephone from the offices of Jack Bradley Realty in Port Clinton.
