A motorcylist from Massillon, Ohio, was injured Saturday when his bike crashed into a pickup that pulled in front of him on Ohio 2, state troopers said.

Dean Herrick, 52, Massillon, was eastbound on the highway at the Tettau Road intersection, just west of Camp Perry, riding a Harley-Davidson Road King.

A Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by Cody Conaway, 16, Port Clinton, was crossing the highway southbound from Erie Industrial Park and was struck by Herrick's motorcycle. Troopers from the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Conaway was charged with failure to yield from a private drive.

Herrick was flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center by medical helicopter from the scene of the 7:20 p.m. accident, troopers said.

Assisting agencies at the scene were: Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office; Carroll TWP Police Dept.; Erie TWP Fire Department; and Life Flight EMS.
