SANDUSKY

The Sandusky Firefighters local 327 will host a perch-fishing showdown this Saturday in Sandusky.

The winning team of the “Shootout in the West” tournament will be determined by the highest total weight of the team’s top 25 perch. There will also be prizes for the largest perch, largest sheepshead, and largest walleye.

The entry fee for the “Shootout in the West”  is $100 per boat with a maximum of 4 people per team.  Eighty percent of the entry fees will be awarded in prizes and each team member will receive a meal at the time the prizes are announced, said tournament director and Sandusky firefighter Adam Butler. All proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Erie County programs.

Fishing will be between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., with weigh-in by 4 p.m. at the Shelby Street Boat Dock.  The meal will be immediately after that, followed by the award ceremony.   All fish must be caught in Lake Erie west of the Huron River.  The tournament is limited to 100 boats, but there is still room to get in.
