My idea would not solve the financial problems of the city that we have, but would show the citizens that the administration was sincere in their efforts to solve the problem.

I think that all the people in the administration and all departments heads should volunteer to take a 20 percent pay cut until our financial problems are resolved. When times get better, their pay cuts could be rescinded.

In regard to closing fire station on Venice Road, forget it. Now a little of my life's history. I served 30 years in the Sandusky Fire Department. The last five years of my service was as house captain of Station No. 7. Stop and think of all that is involved in that area. Condos, apartment buildings, a public grade school, nursing homes, one with an Alzheimer's unit that keeps its doors locked, factories, auto service garages and many private homes. So before you go off the deep end and close that station, please give it plenty of serious thought and do not close it.
