PERKINS TWP.

Unfazed by the blanket of humidity and the 90-plus temperatures, hundreds of onlookers and dozens of mad-dog drivers turned out Sunday evening for the Erie County Fair's coup-de-grace: The Demolition Derby.

It took place in a pit of mud hemmed in by concrete blocks, situated just a short walk from the Erie County Sheriff's office. Surrounded by bleachers chockfull of spectators hungry for the bone-jarring crunch of metal, Sunday's demo-derby drivers did not disappoint.
