Why ask for trouble?

Will somone try to explain the closing of the Venice Road fire station?

My thinking on this situation: We would have several hundred people in jeopardy in the west end -- plus, if it would be in the winter, a group of children at school. Even thinking about it scares me because I live in the area.

We had occasion four years ago to use the rescue squad, and might I say, a most capable team.

Also, it involves the ever-present train. With three nursing homes, senior citizen apartments, condos, homes and a trailer park -- would you please reconsider the whole situation?

Editor's note: Fire chief Mike Meinzer has said budget cuts may force him to close the fire station on Venice Road during the winter. The other satellite station at First Street and Cedar Point Road was closed last week.
