A local animal rescue group, Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary of Port Clinton, got a look at the results of such operations last month when it rescued 34 dogs from puppy mills in Holmes County. Most of those dogs already have been adopted out.
“We think it’s a good first step in the right direction for a state that has for so long gone unregulated when it comes to these high volume breeders,” said Karen Minton, Ohio state director for the Humane Society of the United States.

Kasich the ultra-wingnut wants GOVERNMENT REGULATION ??? !!!
The realities of running a government move every long-term leader toward the center, eventually.
That's great but get HB108 to the floor on December 11th before this bill dies again. Senator Niehaus is a lame duck who refuses to put it to a vote even though the majority of Senator's support and will vote to approve. Ohio does not have felony charges for animal abuse no matter how horrific the offense. Thousands of phone calls and e-mails are being ignored. www.nitrofoundation.com We need everyone to call or e-mail Senator Niehaus and demand he take this to the floor for a vote next Tuesday.
