Many people are stopped in Erie County for having one of two license plate lights or tail lights not working, expired tags, tags not secured properly, etc. We're all familiar with the tactics and why.

Last week I followed a Tahoe that had four bicycles attached to the rear hitch and this week a Pontiac that was carrying bicycles.

In each scenario the tail lights were barely visible and the license plates couldn't be read.

I'm not making a point that this is dangerous. What I am saying is if you are not employed and can't afford new tags, tie a couple old bicycles to the rear bumper. I don't think there is a law covering this or it isn't being enforced.

If you do get caught, at least you'll have a ride home.
