PORT CLINTON

Heavy weather grounded a kite-building workshop that was set for Saturday at Port Clinton's Rotary Skate Park and Derby Pond, but when the skies cleared a bit, hopeful fliers proved all you need is enough wind to get the kite into the air.

The kite workshop has been re-scheduled for Aug. 1 from 1-4 p.m. at the same location. Master kite builder Dan Klos will be on hand for the make-up date, according to the Greater Port Clinton Arts Council, which is organizing the event.

Meanwhile, in Sandusky, the Pet Expo drew hundreds of people and their pets to the Sandusky Bay Pavilion, where they could show off their furred and feathered friends, peruse pointers on pet care or give animals a chance to convince them to provide a good home.
