The (Toledo) Blade reports that Chrysler is taking over control of its paint shop in the Toledo plant after using an onsite supplier.
Of the paint shop employees, 73 were Jeep workers with 30-plus years whom Chrysler recruited to retire and join the new plant when it opened in 2006. Now that Chrysler will be using its own employees in the shop, those workers are being let go.
Chrysler spokesman Jodi Tinson said the company is better served by taking over the painting facility. And because the workers had already retired, they can't be brought back.

The fact that it's three weeks after the re-coronation of Mr. Obama wouldn't have anything to do with the timing of this announcement would it?
Wait until the 2014 election, Redfern and his plunderbun goofs will blame the Kasich administration for Chrysler job losses.
No, it wouldn't.
I heard they are collecting their pension & a paycheck.....sounds like double dipping....they should be happy they got double pay as long as they did....some people cant get one paycheck let alone 2!
Exactly! Unfortunately, too many Commenters are just wanting to blame people and complain about something.
Moderators have removed this comment because it contained Personal attacks (including: name calling, presumption of guilt or guilt by association, insensitivity, or picking fights).
seriously? is this a communist run paper? no profanity. just stated obvious facts! name calling - none, personal attacks - no more than is the the article above, guilt - none, insensitivity - define! - every statement can be declared insensitive, picking fights - obvious facts.
Misspelling profanity still makes it profanity. Your comment is fine if you can cut out the cursing. I agree, you didn't cross the line on personal attacks. Thanks!
i guess i don't consider the technical term for a female dog as profanity. what we see and hear in print and on tv in considerably worse!
Not when you can now say vagina !
Mr. Obama could always continue to blame the "previous administration" for the recession comin' in 2013.
Oops! That would be HIM. :)
GM building $1B plant in China:

To manufacture product to sell to to China. All of the Auto makers do it.
@ Good 2 B Me:
Yea, but the taxpayers don't own 'em like they do GM and Chrysler.
That comment made no sense.
Can't you hear.Those 843,000 jobs cost us a million a job.
@ Good 2 B Me:
Did you miss the news of the GM and Chrysler U.S. taxpayers bailouts?
Well at least he can quit blaming Geo. W.and now blame his own inheritance !
How many non-retired workers are losing their jobs? Obama doesn't need your vote any more so he's throwing you under the bus.
:(
:o
No link / No names but my understanding KBI may have some difficulty coming down the pike...shame.

Gee, what happened to the 1200 new jobs the Dems & UAW hacks were bragging about at the Jeep plant before the election?
This looks like job loss, not job creation!
Chrysler builds junk anyways so who cares!
Oh, I beg to differ on this one. We have a town and country and it is wonderful. The thing is quiet, rides well and is GREAT on gas. We traded in our ford...which was constantly in the shop.
So I wouldn't say it was junk at all. Well build and economical.
i agree my town and country has been the best vehicle i have owned i have not had to have anything done to it except oil changes... great running reliable smooth quiet comfortable assessable vehicle
be varrry, varrry careful. the moderators are hunting you!!!!
Sounds like the teabag crowd to me.
No Dog, Thats chrysler. The tea party crowd had nothing to do with them being fired. I remember a conversation about chrysler awhile back, Somthing about them laying off people. Hmmm?
These people were greedy teabaggers. They had a choice to do what they did. They double dipped. Time for some fresh blood in the plant.
So all the boogymen are now tea party people. Thats a laugh. They are workers, Thought you liked workers and workers rights? Oh yeah thats right, You do not care for anyones rights. Karma's a pain Dog, Hopefully it catches up with you someday.
"Bruce Baumhower, president of United Auto Workers Local 12, had strong words for Chrysler on Wednesday,"
“This was a money grab by the corporation to get rid of them and hire everybody in at tier-two wages.”
Guess Mr. "I won" Obama doesn't need 'em anymore. Sad but typical of a user.

bfrutie, were these workers UAW retirees, not teabaggers..... Why do ex- union hacks, failed political appointees always use the term teabaggers?
