Erie Co. to telecast court arraignments

Every municipal court in Erie County will soon telecast arraignments, or initial plea hearings, for prisoners unable to post bond following an arrest.

A feed would transmit a signal from the Erie County jail, where the prisoner stays, to a municipal court, where a judge informs the arrested person of their charges. Sandusky already participates in the video teleconferencing program, with officials from Huron, Vermilion and Erie County municipal courthouses committing to install all necessary equipment for broadcasts.

For more on the benefits of arraigning prisoners via video instead of in person, pick up a copy of Monday's Register.

Was it necessary to use the picture of Curtis Clinton? Looking at his face makes me sick to my stomach!!

If I understand this correctly, every jail will now have a teleconference set up so the prisoners will not have to leave the jail? Is that it?

That would be nice. No more prisoners on the streets in handcuffs going to and from the jails. Good idea. They sit in jail and they don't go anywhere to plead. Then the judges could do pleading from their chambers until the trials. Pretty neat ideas.

All we need now is court TV. I hope the cover the Curtis Clinton trial so they can see that piece of scum get sentenced to the death penalty for what he did.

I agree. I would even pay for a front row seat just to see that scum get the needle.

I think implementing this program is great. It will save on time, money, and risk tranporting the prisoners.

Or they could take the engine out of the prisoner transport van and make them push it to and from the courthouse. This would also serve double purpose of doing away with the exercise yard and save more .. LOL
