FITCHVILLE TOWNSHIP

A Greenwich man is dead after a crash Friday night in Fitchville Township, in which state troopers say he apparently ran a stop sign and his vehicle was struck by another.

Dead is Randy Hamilton, 51, of the 1700 block of Greenwich Milan Townline Road. Troopers from the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Hamilton was driving east on Crescent Road in Fitchville Township and did not stop at a stop sign at Rome Greenwich Road.

Hamilton's 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier was struck by the 1986 Nissan Pathfinder driven south on Rome Greenwich Road by Aaron Goble, 24, of Omega Road in Greenwich.

Hamilton was taken from the scene to Eastman Funeral Home in New London, troopers said. His passenger, Michael Hamilton, 53, of Fond du Lac, Wis., was flown from the scene to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, as was Goble.

No one involved in the cras was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

Assisting at the scene were Firelands EMS, Metro LifeFlight, Huron County Sheriff's deputies, the New London Fire Department and Clark Brothers, troopers said.
