I retired from a major oil company after almost 33 years of service. I had many senior management assignments of various experiences. If we want lower gasoline prices, then you can blame the U.S. Congress and the president.

If the oil companies would be allowed to drill for oil in Alaska (Refuge) and offshore California and Florida, we could increase our production by at least 40 percent. The oil companies know where the most remaining oil in the United States is but are not allowed to drill there.

We presently import refined gasoline because we don't have enough refining capacity. There hasn't been a new refinery built in the United States in the last 30 years. Nobody will approve a new one to be built. So the basic mess we are in with high gasoline prices are self-inflicted.

Our government can correct all this and the average citizen should be up in arms over their poor leadership. We should throw out all in congress and start over again.
