When Christopher Lilje showed up at Firelands Regional Medical Center at about 3 a.m. Tuesday, he had a knife sticking out of his chest, a Sandusky police report said.

Lilje, 18, told police he was using the knife to peel an orange when he tripped over his dog in the kitchen of his family's Hayes Avenue home. When he hit the ground, the knife plunged about 3 inches into his right pectoral muscle, the report said.

Lilje's mother told police her son's screams woke her up. She rushed downstairs and found him lying on the floor, the knife protruding from his chest.

Lilje told the Register late Tuesday he's doing much better, other than an aching chest.

"My dog follows me around wherever go. I tripped," Lilje said. "I'm doing a lot better now, just a little sore."

Gotta be careful, I pulled a stupid stunt like that , a few years ago. What a DA attack.

I was washing dishes, in a big hurry, put the sharp knives point up in the dish drainer, ( something I never did before ), save for that one time. Went to dry them got distracted , stuck my hand with one of the points, right on the wrist near the vein.

Ouch!

Lotsa cussing and mess to clean up. Small scar.

Always make sure to put those damn knife points down!!

That's my story and I' m sticking to it. :)

@ starryeyes83:

Been there, done that. Got off with a slight poke - never again.

I have never had the knives point upward BUT I managed, while rushing thru the dishes, to stab myself with a fork 3 times in two days..twice within mere minutes.
While dropping silverware into their compartment, I hit one of the fork tips so hard with the tip of my finger that I punctured it. Then, a moment later, I did it again to the same fingertip.
That second poke stung like uhh..I thought surely there would be a report of Disturbing the Peace, with my roar of the "Fuuuuuhh!"

Then I did it again the next day, but a different fingertip. Never before and never again. An anomaly, I guess.

This story would actually be pretty funny (come on, nobody died or was grievously injured) if it weren't for the number of times I've tripped over a cat... Fortunately, I haven't been holding sharp objects on those occasions!

Maybe he will file a negligence lawsuit against the dog .... Lol

Did they frisk & take "Rover" out in pawcuffs to be interigated?
Just ask the cat & the goldfish, they saw nothing... LOL

Kidding aside I hope he comes out ok.

Fido: 'That' was only a warning. Remember the dog treats next time.

(Glad he's OK)
