Once again our city is negatively in the news, leaving many citizens frustrated and embarrassed. As a government teacher, I spent the bulk of my year embedding into young people that if you want change in society, actively go after it! I now feel it is of major importance to tell our citizens to do the same.

Upset about John Hamilton? Stand up, unite and remember to vote in the upcoming election. Sickened about what was done to Kim Nuesse? Turn your voice into action, and then vote! Aggravated about downtown issues? Pressure your commissioners and vote! Disheartened about the lack of businesses being brought to our city? Say with a cohesive voice "the people in this city deserve better," and vote!

In the most recent presidential election, we had good voter turnout. We should have just as much or more concerning our hometown. If we want Sandusky to be more than what it is, let us vigorously go after it, and not keep settling for more of the same!
