I wanted to voice my disappointment concerning the editorial about open enrollment.

I cannot believe that the Sandusky Register would take a position on the issue of open enrollment. The concern over not getting the money for these students is appalling! Perkins has made open enrollment about money, not about education! If a school is ineffective then it is understandable that a parent would want to go elsewhere but no where does the Register recognize that Sandusky is an effective school. It really is sad that the our own community paper continues to throw its school district under the bus!

As a former student and teacher and parent, I can tell you the open enrollment policy we are seeing enacted in our community is not about education, it is about money and the color of your skin.

Finally not once does your publication refer to the students who came from St Mary's -- and Sandusky schools had to foot that bill!

Also one more note -- do some investigating and see how many students returned back to Sandusky but unfortunately Perkins still gets the money! All in all the issue is that the Sandusky Register has no business taking a side to this issue with out printing all of the facts, but what's new?
