Obama wins

President Barack Obama has won Ohio again, capturing the swing state after a hard-fought battle with Republican Mitt Romney.

Obama, who also won Ohio in 2008, claims the swing state's 18 electoral votes.

Both sides poured major time and resources into the battleground state that has been among the nation's most contested in recent presidential elections. It was considered pivotal for both.

No Republican has won the White House without Ohio. The last president elected despite losing Ohio was Democrat John F. Kennedy in 1960.

Ohio has been site of much of the advertising spending by the campaigns and outside supporters. It also was among the most-visited states by the campaigns.

In addition to Ohio, Obama captured battleground states Iowa and Colorado on his way to the 270 electoral votes he needed.

Obama will again be dealing with a divided Congress. Democrats maintained control of the Senate and Republicans likely will again control the House. Among the most pressing matters is the so-called fiscal cliff of tax hikes and spending cuts scheduled to hit in January. Economists have warned that if they aren't averted, the nation could face another recession.

@ bucknut36:

Nah. Just looking forward to the bankruptcy of the U.S. that would have only potentially slowed had Mr. Romney won.

The rich can't support trillions of dollars of spending, the kleptocrats will soon be coming for your wallet.

The joy of Mr. Obama's useful idiots speaks for itself.

the office cat

...and the whiners and haters have bleeded.

If you can create words...

There you go again

Contago, I am thinking Obama might spend some time thinking of how he is going to "unlie" to all America on how he covered up the Benghazi debacle. You think he might be writing that speech right now?

It must be hard to feel good about your victory when you have fought with negative ads and lying in debates and speeches. Maybe Rev. Wright can offer Obama some spiritual advice.

sanduskysteve

And Romney hasn't lied about anything???? Oh come on now.

John Harville

And there you go again trying to fire up the Benghazi issue when the CIA laid out the truth and documents were presented and reviewed and released. Maybe this is the place to bring up the 43 Americans quietly killed in US embassies, councils and missions during the Bush Administration?

Mikel, Just Thinkin', Contango, et al of similar stripe...I'm glad I can't identify you because I don't have to spend the dough to divide among you a ton of cheese...

@ the office cat:

Good to know that so many wealthy people voted for Mr. Obama isn't it?

They obviously know which way the "redistribution" is going. LMAO!!!

Al Gore is now worth a reported $100M. Investing in those subsidized green energy cos. has sure paid off!!!

sanduskysteve

I think the reason is not about redistribution - I think the reason is that even Romney SUPPORTERS don't trust him anymore.

Contango

@ sanduskysteve:

So the rich aren't getting richer under Mr. Obama?

Why are seven of the ten wealthiest members of Congress Democrats?

Follow the money...

sanduskysteve

I do not remember saying that. And I don't care who is rich and who isn't.

Contango

@ sanduskysteve:

So the wealthy Democrats aren't borrowing, taxing and printing money to fill their own pockets?

They redistribute our country's wealth to themselves and you don't care?

So why do you vote for 'em?

sanduskysteve

I think the redistributing of wealth issue is not real so I would care if I thought it was a wide spread issue. It is not. If you want an example of redistributing wealth - what about Romney/Ryans ides to take the money from the middle class and give it to the rich in a form of tax break and elimination - or HUGE tax refunds when they already are making billions in profits they aren't paying any taxes on - such as Exxon. That's a huge distribution of wealth. And then you add the gross stealing of our money at THEIR gas stations - and it just increases the issue.

Randy_Marsh

So bailing out the banks at 40 billion a month till the end of time with your money is somthing you agree with? Its redistribution done by this admin so its gotta be good huh?

John Harville

The greatest 'redistribution' in America in the last two years is the hundreds of millions from the Kochs and Trump and Adelson to media and their friends like Rupert Murdoch.

sanduskysteve

I believe it was Bush who actually did the banks bailouts. Stop trying to protect your leader.

4shizzle

@ contango

So?

John Harville

Yeah,... there are a lot of media delighted with the 'redistribution of the wealth' of Adelson, Rove, the Kochs and others....

John Harville

Yes. It is good to know "so many wealthy..." VOTED. When it comes down to the bottom line - voting is the great equalizer. Adelson has one vote just like me.

CAT! what did you say?

Randy_Marsh

Wonder what the DOW is doing? Down 200 pts today, Seriously wonder how bad its gonna be towards the 1st of the year. If this is anything of a sign the reccession is not going anywhere.

4shizzle

The Dow has done very well for the last 2-3 years under Obama.

Randy_Marsh

It will be interesting to see what happeneds when the taxes go up and they pay their "Fair" share. *Excuse me im laughing about that sentence. I wonder if your 401k will survive this round of market drops?

4shizzle

marsh
If the Repubs don't stop their obstructing, how about your 401? ha ha ha

Randy_Marsh

4shizzle
Obstructing? Please see the senate and their "Budget" HA!

4shizzle

marsh
Is that all you got? Give me a link? (sound familiar?)

Randy_Marsh

http://newmediajournal.us/indx.p... What part of them not even looking at a budget dont you understand? They are useing the Debt limit as a budget and upping it every year. They even shot down Obama's budget when it went to the senate. "In a later retaliatory vote forced by Republicans, the Senate achieved rare bipartisan unanimity in rejecting Obama's budget plan on a 97-0 vote. The defeat was expected." http://www.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS...
The fact is the senate will not do a budget and the debt will rise, It will be on the Democrats head NOT Bush's

4shizzle

I doubt that you really know what's going on, but you make sounds like you do.

John Harville

Randy... it all depends on what the Ducks do with the sequestration on which they insisted and which drastic cuts go into effect January 1.

Randy_Marsh

John
The sequestration was the threat if they have failed, They did and we will pay. But on the other hand they may save some money which is not entirly a bad thing.
