Obama wins

President Barack Obama has won Ohio again, capturing the swing state after a hard-fought battle with Republican Mitt Romney.

Obama, who also won Ohio in 2008, claims the swing state's 18 electoral votes.

Both sides poured major time and resources into the battleground state that has been among the nation's most contested in recent presidential elections. It was considered pivotal for both.

No Republican has won the White House without Ohio. The last president elected despite losing Ohio was Democrat John F. Kennedy in 1960.

Ohio has been site of much of the advertising spending by the campaigns and outside supporters. It also was among the most-visited states by the campaigns.

In addition to Ohio, Obama captured battleground states Iowa and Colorado on his way to the 270 electoral votes he needed.

Obama will again be dealing with a divided Congress. Democrats maintained control of the Senate and Republicans likely will again control the House. Among the most pressing matters is the so-called fiscal cliff of tax hikes and spending cuts scheduled to hit in January. Economists have warned that if they aren't averted, the nation could face another recession.

"The voters have not endorsed the failures or excesses of the president's first term, they have simply given him more time to finish the job they asked him to do together with a Congress that restored balance to Washington after two years of one-party control.

"Now it's time for the president to propose solutions that actually have a chance of passing the Republican-controlled House of Representatives and a closely divided Senate, step up to the plate on the challenges of the moment, and deliver in a way that he did not in his first four years in office.

"To the extent he wants to move to the political center, which is where the work gets done in a divided government, we'll be there to meet him half way."== Mitch McConnell

What he waited for was Karl Rove and the rest of staff to accept the Ohio figures. Remember, the Senate and House both increased Dem members and downed the Tea Party in many states.

Congrats voters. Four more years of this? Nation of IDIOTS.

If Romney won, this nation would have been an absolute disgrace in the eyes of the world.
Oh,Pakistan and Afgahnistan would have liked it because they hate us.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Castro, Chavez and Kim Il-jong are happy though.

Oh thank you, yes, they hate us too.

John Harville

"amadinnerjacket" is leaving office; Castro and Chavez are dying; and Kim is a child who can't get his missile to work. We care why?

If you do not understand now you never will.

amadinnerjacket --- I love it! LOL!

Yep, that's a good one, Jay Leno calls "Ima nutjob". That one's my favorite.

@4shizzle Wait, what? You think that Afghanistan likes Obama after he surged our troop numbers in their country? Wow, the ignorance is stunning.
Then again, you could be right. A number of people in the Muslim community seem to be under the assumption that Obama is their "caliphate." To them, as long as Obama is believed to be a double-agent for the Islamic cause..he can do no sin in their eyes.

You think Obama is not disgracing us? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v... Listen carefully to what General Wesley Clark told "Democracy Now" on March 2nd, 2007 (beginning at 05:38 into the vid). Now try to tell me again how Obama is making us look any better than Bush at all. SMH and, again, the ignorance is stunning.

By the way, some of you should probably watch the entire video (less than 15 mins). Very informative and thought-provoking for those who vote without knowing much about their candidates (aside from their views on gay marriage or abortion).
It also pushes the idea to investigate and start speaking up before no one will dare speak up anymore..which is the only responsible thing we can do, with what information is available to the public, when there is a good chance that these people are about to get us into a war with Russia and/or China (over Syria and Iran).

@ verdict
It was supposed to be a joke.

The idea was if Romney were president, the USA would be punished by having him as president and our enemies would be happy to punish us by proxy.

@ verdict

What you wrote is confusing and confused.
"...To them, as long as Obama is believed to be a double-agent for the Islamic cause..he can do no sin in their eyes."
That's a pretty wacked statement.

Also I watched that video.
Are you saying to REVOLT?

@4shizzle It is not confusing or wack, when you consider that:
A). The Muslims' Koran (or Quran or w/e) permits them to commit any sin without being judged by their god, as long as it is being done to "fool the infidels" as part of an effort to bring them down.
B). There are Muslims who believe that Obama is one of them, and believe that he is doing just that.
I, myself, highly doubt it. I think he is just a player and is playing all sides of the religious fence (as well as other issues).

@4shizzle Define revolt. When you put it in capitals, it makes me think that you mean a physical revolt. And nothing in my comment, nor the video I linked, advocates physical revolt. You insult my intellect by even suggesting it.

I feel that you either: A). did not fully hear the video out or, B). are trying to paint me out as a "radical" merely because part of the video demonstrated that Obama is making us look just as bad as Bush did (most crucially, in the eyes of China and Russia). Perhaps the insult to Obama caused the big picture to escape you? : P

Try watching it again (as well as reading my post again). Your first clue should have been where he said that we need to reach out to our police and military and form a stronger bond with them (discussing these issues with those among them who take an interest).
Another obvious clue was at the end of the video where they offer to help you get involved BY offering tools and resources to write articles and do interviews on these topics. Is it now considered a "REVOLT" to build websites, write articles and interview ppl now?

The guy is saying to get people involved in research and speaking out and spreading the discussion of what our leaders are doing. In fact, if you pay undivided attention, he is trying to raise awareness to a level of "critical mass" to AVOID violent uprisings..to raise people's awareness and get them OUT of this foolish "I don't care about research and discussion because I will just defend myself if it comes down to it" type of mindset.

removed in an effort to consolidate my points into smaller comments (revised) above : P

4 more years Obama. Nice work Ohio. Job well done.

I wrote on my FB page yesterday morning: "Thank God it is finally election day because I am tired of the political commercials. I hope Obama wins but if not I will respect and support any President who is fairly elected by the American people." What I see on these blogs are a bunch of poor losers who never learned to lose gracefully and graciously. I also see people who do not how to show respect. One does not have to like someone to respect their position of authority. Plus, maybe Obama didn't do the job you feel he should have but he lost the state he was born in, Michigan, and he lost the state he was governor of, and he lost all of the New England states surrounding Ma so what does that tell you? If he had done a great job there he would have won those states. I lived there when he was governor. I was not impressed. Try being like Romney who, although he waited far too long to give his concession speech, he did so respectfully, politely, and with humility. If you like him so much follow his example. Congratulations Mr. President and thank-you for your humble and respectful concession, Former Governor Romney.

I wonder who Obama will blame for the mess he inherited this time?

Have you not heard? we are getting better even WITHOUT the help of the Repubs.

There you go again

Yep, Republicans need to find their own illegitimate son, seal his school records, hide his birth certificate for a few years, elect him to a law office without writing any law articles and get ready for 2016!

Obama, now he has REALLY inherited a mess!

Darwin's choice

A sad day for the United States.

Bye bye. You can go back to the basement again.

Darwin's choice

And you'll be there soon.........

@ darwin
So sad, and you were oh, SO giddy.
Also, stay out of the prophecy business, you suck at it.

i call on my fellow republicans in congress to continue to block the outrageous spending and destruction of america by the person in the oval office!!

There you go again

the office cat

Mikel... you're in Congress?
"....continue to block..." at least you admit it.
"the person in the Oval Office..." DOES NOT DICTATE spending... that would be your 'fellow Republicans in Congress'

thats right cat, congress dictates that and i hope that every bill that comes before them from the person in the oval office is rejected!

For the first time in my life, I'm embarrassed to be an American
