PERKINS TWP.

The Erie County dog warden and a local veterinarian are teaming up today to offer the second of two low-cost vaccination clinics for dog owners.

Dog warden Barb Knapp and Companion Care Animal Clinic veterinarian Jerry Farkas are providing Parvo vaccinations from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the county dog pound on Columbus Avenue.

The Parvo virus affects a dog's intestinal tract and can be lethal. Spread through dog-to-dog contact and through feces, the virus attacks a dog's stomach and intestines and causes severe internal bleeding and bloody diarrhea.

Today's clinic offers dog owners a drive-through vaccination so they can pull their vehicle into the dog pound's garage, Knapp said. The vaccination is $10. The dog pound is at 2900 Columbus Ave. For information, call 419-627-7607.
