It was a beautiful morning this past Saturday so I got up early and rode my bicycle downtown to get a haircut. I first patronized a historic barber shop where I enjoyed friendly conversation with the proprietor and a few other customers. I walked a short distance for a cup of coffee at a welcoming and comfortable coffeehouse. While there I had an opportunity to briefly sit and listen in with concerned citizens and city officials expressing their views and discussing ideas that we as residents of Sandusky could possibly utilize to improve our town's quality of life. After that I rode my bike a few blocks to my church and helped with some maintenance projects and then rode back home to do yard work at my home of 22 years.

That evening at dusk I rode back downtown to watch the sunset from the waterfront. Some observations I made while riding around were that within this city there are many aesthetically pleasing homes and historic structures to enjoy. I found it fascinating to watch a wind turbine converting electrical power from wind. The view as I rode along the bay front was as breathtaking as any other location I have ever visited. I saw couples walking ,families at the shoreline park, other bicyclists enjoying the warm weather and scenic waterfront view. My objective in writing this letter is to remind people to look for and recognize the beauty and many positives aspects in the city of Sandusky. I think one main attribute often overlooked and under appreciated is the social diversity we enjoy here in Sandusky. It would be very boring to all be and think the same. Our diversity is our strength. I enjoy living in Sandusky.

I suggest that we accentuate the positive, get involved in the community and go for a walk or bike ride.
