Todd L. Picklesimer, 42, of Willard, was driving a 1998 Mercury Villager south on Peru Center Road near Standardsburg Road at 11:05 a.m. when he crossed the center line and drove off the left side of the road. The Mercury struck a street sign and a phone junction box before striking a tree head-on, according to troopers.
Picklesimer was thrown the from vehicle and suffered incapacitating injuries. He was taken from the scene by medical helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Picklesimer was not wearing a seat belt.
His passenger, Lori A. Atkins, 37, of Willard, suffered incpacitating injuries and was also taken by medical helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. She was wearing a seat belt.
Drug impairment is considered to be a factor in the crash, troopers said.
