When the envelopes opened this morning, Perkins Schools only had one qualifying bid for a proposed $1.8 million expansion project.

The district wanted to add 18 modular classrooms at Briar Middle School and Meadowlawn Elementary School by August.

Superintendent Jim Gunner, who admitted the bidding process might not have been fair, said he’d recommend the school board scrap the project and perhaps pursue it a year from now.
