The (Toledo) Blade (http://bit.ly/VsgSdI ) reports that officials in the village of Ottawa Hills agreed to the settlement with Michael McCloskey earlier this month.
The settlement resolves a federal lawsuit against former officer Thomas White and the village. McCloskey was paralyzed from the waist down after he was shot once in the back during a May 2009 traffic stop.
White was convicted in 2010 of felonious assault and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He has appealed, claiming he made a good-faith mistake when he fired the shot, and as a police officer should be immune from prosecution.
