According to troopers, a 2007 Volvo semi driven east by Andreii Opryshkov, 24, of Chicago, slammed into the back of a UPS truck, also eastbound, at about 2:15 p.m.
On impact, Opryshkov's cab was ripped from the truck frame. He suffered a cut to his face but was otherwise uninjured and refused medical help.
UPS truck driver, William Franklin, 62, was taken by ambulance to Fisher-Titus Medical Center for back and neck pain.
All three eastbound turnpike lanes were shut down for about two hours.
