I am a mother of a 16-year-old daughter with cerebral palsy and also have had the privilege of serving on the Sandusky County Board of MR/DD.
The staff at School of Hope/Sandco Industries is extremely dedicated. They show a special interest in each child/adult. They do all they can to make each individual feel important and work hard to find the individual’s strengths. When I visit the School of Hope, each staff member greets me with a smile. They all know my daughter whether or not they have worked directly with her. I know when my daughter gets on the bus in the morning, until the time she returns home, that she is being taken care of as though she were one of their own.
The school services my daughter with physical, speech, occupational and pool therapies. They also afford her many opportunities within the community and work on vocational skills. Since she is unable to verbally communicate, the staff gives me a written description of her activities for that day. She is so proud when we read about what she did and how she was able to contribute.
