Students collected pennies to honor teachers

This week on the Graveyard Rabbit of Sandusky Bay blog, we learn about the large book monument at Oakland Cemetery dedicated to two late 1800s Sandusky teachers.

"Eliza and Sarah J. Moore were early teachers in the Sandusky local schools. According to FROM THE WIDOW'S WALK, by Helen Hansen and Virginia Steinemann, former pupils of the Moore sisters collected pennies so that a monument could be erected at Oakland Cemetery."
