PERKINS TWP.

Perkins police issued an arrest warrant Wednesday for the man they believe robbed the Rite Aid Pharmacy on West Perkins Avenue.

Jeffrey “Jay” Hartley, 23, 7200 block County Road 175, Bellevue, is charged with one count of robbery, two counts of aggravated menacing and one count of felony theft.

Hartley entered the Rite Aid Pharmacy at W. Perkins Avenue and Campbell Street Monday afternoon, armed with a hand gun, and robbed the pharmacy of an undisclosed amount of the prescription drug, OxyContin, police said. He fled from the scene, and police have been searching for him ever since.

“Witnesses picked him out of a photo lineup and other people who wished to remain anonymous verified it was him after seeing an image of him robbing the store,” Lt. Al Matthews said.

Hartley’s prior criminal record includes charges of assault, inducing panic and underage drinking, Matthews said, and Hartley is still considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information that could lead to Hartley’s arrest should call the Perkins Police Department at 419-627-0824.
