Feeling ducky this winter?

That’s a good thing if you’re participating in the fourth annual Duck Derby, which takes place at 9 p.m. tonight at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky.

“What we do is we have up to 5,000 ducks that we sell and with every duck purchase the individual gets a Kalahari day pass and a chance for their duck to be dumped into the lazy river at Kalahari,” said United Way of Erie County Executive Director Pamela Colbert-Brumbaugh.

“Then the ducks bubble out, go around the lazy river and the first four ducks to be caught in the bottom shoe of our mini Jet Express (boat with a net underneath) win one of four prizes.”

A joint effort between United Way of Erie County and Sandusky Main Street Association, the Duck Derby has proven to be a win-win situation for both entities.
