SANDUSKY

Bob Kreimes and Chet "Butch" Sinwald can reel off the names of a half-dozen grocery stores that have folded since Kreimes Cardinal Grocery opened 33 years ago. Among them is Apple's grocery store in Norwalk, which recently closed at least in part because of competition from a nearby Wal-Mart Supercenter.

The store on East Washington Street, where Kreimes and Sinwald are managers, has outlived the others -- but it's not easy staying afloat.

"It's getting tough, let me tell you," Sinwald said.
