SANDUSKY

Sandusky High School students are losing their hair over district competitions.

The swim relay team of seniors Karl Fleck, Troy Willer, and Matt Zoellner and junior Gus Everson celebrated the team's district-bound achievement by sporting bleached-blond mohawks.

They must have worked: The boys and girls swim teams from Sandusky High School broke several school records and even one of their coach's records during the Division I district swim meet Friday at Bowling Green State University.

Sandusky High School's four-man swim relay team's path to success:

The relay team competed at the sectional competition against Clyde, Fremont Ross, Fremont St. Joe, Huron, Lakota, Margaretta, Marion Harding, Norwalk, Oak Harbor, Perkins, Port Clinton, St. Marys Central Catholic, St. Paul and Willard high schools at Fremont High School on Feb. 13.

The team earned the fastest times, which qualified them for districts, which they won Friday at Bowling Green State University.

Now one swimmer and one diver are sure to move on to the state competition in Canton. The rest of the state field will be announced Sunday.
