A grand jury has indicted Michael H. Barrett, 57, 2000 block Linden Drive, on charges of attempted murder, felonious assault, attempted rape, abduction, disrupting a public service and a specification of being a repeat violent offender.
Barrett is accused of attacking his live-in girlfriend Nikki Sheffield on April 13. He allegedly tried to gouge her eyes out with his fingers, beat her and threatened to kill her as he brandished a knife.
“I thought I was a goner,” she said.
