Flood warning for the Huron River near Milan until further notice

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a flood warning for the Huron River near Milan until further notice.

At 5 p.m. Tuesday the stage was 17.8 feet and rising.

The river is expected to rise to between 18 and 18.5 feet tonight then fall below flood stage tomorrow. A second rise is expected that would bring the river back into flood range tomorrow evening with rain moving into the region.

At 18 feet flooding occurs in low lying areas along the river from Milan to Franklin Flats.

Precautionary/preparedness actions

Never drive your car through flooded roadways. The water may be deeper than it appears. Turn around — don't drown!.
