SANDUSKY

Local libraries' books are expected to be a few state dollars short in 2009.

The Sandusky and Huron libraries will respond by tightening their budgets, although the Sandusky Library -- bolstered by new levy funds set to kick in next month -- still plans to expand its hours.

Libraries across Ohio have been told to expect a 6 percent to 8 percent reduction in state funding during 2009, said Beverly Johnson, fiscal officer for the Huron Public Library.
