Thumbs UP for city commission sticking to its guns on Marina District vote. Now let's all see what the next round in the fight will be.

Thumbs UP for the $1.26 million federal grant that will help Erie County and the city of Sandusky acquire abandoned, tax-delinquent properties and sell them, with the idea of turning them back into tax revenue producing properties. OK, so it won't solve the whole problem by itself but it's more than we had.

Thumbs DOWN to NBC's decision to not cover the Walleye drop. We and the thousands who show up will keep Wylie to ourselves. The rest of you can have your boring old ball.

Thumbs UP to the decision to take the Erie County Care Facility levy off the ballot. County commissioners finally showed they heard the call from voters in November. We hope they get the message more loudly and more clearly in the difficult weeks and months ahead as they are forced to balance budget cuts with productivity in the county work force.
