PERKINS TWP.

KBI, formerly Delphi, announced layoffs that could idle as much as 95 percent of its 798 workers beginning Jan. 5. Tentative plans are to gradually bring employees back to work, so 50 percent could be on the job by the end of January, and 75 percent by the end of February.

Layoffs are also expected at the International Automotive Components plant in Huron and Tower Automotive in Bellevue, according to United Auto Workers Local 913 president Doug Preston.
