The people have voted -- twice. The Marina District Development was on the ballot over one year ago. Everyone had time to reflect on developing the marina area or not.

Before that election we had general elections during which the voters voted for city commissioners of their choice. Both elections went well. These elections ended up with our commissioners proposing development of the Marina District. This development was voted on and passed.

The people chose to develop with their commissioners leading the direction of that development. What has changed in the past 18 months? The economy has worsened, jobs have been eliminated and development has only been discussed.

The wheels turn slowly here in Sandusky. Yet they are turning. Why are we now entertaining voting on this again?

Don't let another year pass by with inaction. Our commissioners should take a positive step forward and continue with what they and the people have started. Don't waste another 12 months while letting numerous meetings, negotiations and potential developers be lost. Continue what has been asked of you.

Push for progress, job creation, increased tax base and development. Go forward with the Marina District Development. That's what the people have already said.
