Huron Fire Department’s chili took top honors Saturday night at the eighth annual Firefighters’ Chili Cook-Off at Lyman Harbor Marina.
More than 2,000 people attended the annual charity event, sponsored by K96 and 95.3 WLKR, according to spokeswoman Kami Moon. There were 17 fire departments entering their chili recipes.
Second place was a tie between Green Springs and Marblehead fire departments, and third place went to Wellington Fire Department’s chili.
People’s Choice Award went to Huron River Joint Fire Dist., Moon said.
The annual event raises money for participating fire departments to use either for their own expenses or to donate to charity. In addition to prize money raised by raffles at the event, participating fire departments raise money by selling servings of their chili.
