VERMILION

It's easier than felling your own Douglas fir, and a little more fun than picking up a Scotch pine from a store parking lot.

Continuing a tradition that's both old and relatively new, residents can buy their Christmas trees off the deck of the Christmas Tree Ship on Saturday.

The icebreaker, loaded with trees, will pull up to McGarvey's Landing at 11 a.m. Saturday. Organizers with Main Street Vermilion expect 200-300 people for the event, program director Lynda Ulrich said.
