SANDUSKY

Career victory No. 1 is in the books for Bellevue coach Ryan Orshoski as the Lady Red built an early lead Saturday by attacking the basket and getting to the foul line in a 60-29 win over Sandusky.

Three players hit double digits for Bellevue (1-0), which made 15 of 24 free throws and was 8-for-12 in the second quarter while building a 25-point halftime lead.

BUCYRUS

For the second straight night, Perkins got a stellar effort from Bethany Caudill, but still came up on the losing end.

This time, it was Mansfield Senior scoring the winning basket with two seconds left to hand Perkins a 55-54 loss at the Bucyrus Holiday Tournament.

PORT CLINTON

After trailing by as many 12 with 3:13 remaining in the first half, the Lady Redskins capitalized off several Wildcat turnovers to sneak back into contention late in the third quarter.

With momentum on their side, they continued their defensive excellence by holding the Wildcats under 40 points and forcing 28 turnovers to earn a season opening 40-37 victory.

MARION

Margaretta girls basketball coach Tim Tucker knew his team was facing a vry good opponent in its opener Saturday on the road.

And, the Polar Bears suffered a heart-breaking 60-58 overtime defeat.

The Bears held a 16-12 lead after one quarter, but the score was deadlocked at half-time, 26-26.
