RIDGEFIELD TWP.

Three people are recovering from injuries after a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on Washington Road in Huron County.

Rebecca G. Laws, 33, 42 N. Main St., Monroeville, suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. A hospital spokeswoman said Laws remained at the hospital late Friday night, but her condition was unknown.

Laws was a passenger in a 2002 Ford Escape driven by Charles Laws, 30, of the same address. Charles Laws suffered non-incapacitating injuries and was taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

According to the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Charles Laws was traveling east on Washington Road when he lost control of his vehicle and traveled left of center, striking a 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette head-on. Laws then continued off the road and down an embankment, striking two trees.

He was cited for failing to maintain control and for not wearing his seat belt.

The driver of the Oldsmobile, James R. Ellis, 54, 1326 W. Washington Road, Norwalk, suffered minor injuries along with his passenger, Marilyn S. Ellis, 50, of the same address. Both were wearing seat belts and were taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman said they were treated and released.

Huron County Sheriff's deputies and Norwalk police closed Washington Road for about two hours after the crash occurred at about 4:30 p.m.
