Abortion is all about the exploitation of women.
It's about using women for sex without his having to consider consequences.
It's about extreme pressure, about refusing emotional and financial support, to make sure she makes the "right" ''choice," the one that lets the boyfriend and/or the family off the hook. It's about abandonment or its threat when she needs him/them most. It's about seeing no way clear to continuing her education and moving toward her dreams.
It's about facing the horrors of the clinic all alone, seen there as money rather than a person. It's about no follow-up medical or psychological care once the "procedure" is done.
It's about dealing with overwhelming emotions she's not supposed to be having and isn't allowed to express according to pro-choicers and the counselors they've influenced: grief for her lost baby, knowledge that she caused its death, worthlessness, the desperation of wanting to undo what cannot be undone, all this beginning while still under the influence of powerful hormones that now have no useful function. Can we wonder that post-abortive women commit suicide seven times more frequently than women who give birth?
It's about putting her (not his or their) body and long-term health at risk. Its about silent medical conditions that pop out years later. Links have been established with breast cancer and fibromyalgia among others.
Abortion is a bummer of a decision. You wouldn't ask it of someone who really matters to you.
Better solutions are available. Your local crisis pregnancy center can help you find what's best for you. There's also emotional help for women regretting past choices through such programs as Rachel's Vineyard.
