In two weeks, more than 250 workers will punch out at Whirlpool's Clyde plant, not knowing when they will punch in again.
A corporate spokeswoman said the layoff is in response to the poor economy, so it's hard to say when the workers will be called back to the company.
To help employees cope with the transition to unemployment or re-employment, The Job Store in Sandusky County is planning a special meeting Friday at the plant.
