I note with a great deal of disappointment, regret and shame the levy was turned down for Erie County Care Facility, a facility unsurpassed by many of those in surrounding counties and taking the lead away from many of those that are privately owned, truly an institution that is "first class."

Apparently, we are entering a new society that feels the elderly and those considered to be incompetent and dependent, through no fault of their own, are not deserving of the proper care and spending their few remaining years living and dying with dignity.

We've not only failed those in need but also those dedicated employees who must endure daily obstacles to provide comfort for the well-being of your loved ones. This takes a special person.

Unless emergency action is (and it should be) enacted, I suggest to those of you who voted the levy down, be prepared at sometime in your life to accept the responsibility of caring for members of your family in your own home, because it is inevitable before you experience death, you will undergo the aches, pains, tragedies and mishaps of getting old, where indeed, a fine facility like Erie Care, may or would have been your last resort.
