Some fans will venture to Woodmore High School on Friday to see the Wildcats take on the Lakota High School East Thunderhawks.

But most will be there for the band.

Woodmore High School will host The Ohio State University Marching band for Friday’s half-time show.

Jacci Ferguson, a spokeswoman for the band, said the band stops at one high school each year to play a Friday night show on its way to Michigan.

Ohio State takes on Michigan State at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

“Our kids are so excited,” said Woodmore School District superintendent Jane Garling.

She said the event was coordinated by the Ohio State Alumni Association, but the school has its own connections.

Jonathan Waters, the Ohio State Marching Band assistant director, is a Woodmore High School graduate.

“We remember he was so talented,” Garling said. “He was a tremendously talented young man and all he wanted to do was go to Ohio State and play in the band.”

She said the district is expecting about 3,000 people to attend the game Friday and the district has brought in additional bleachers to accommodate the crowd. Reserved seating tickets already sold out, but general admission tickets will be sold at the door Friday.

Garling said visitors should arrive at Woodmore High School football stadium between 5 and 5:15 p.m. to get in line for tickets. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., she said.
