I'm floored at the complete lack of discussion about the real problem with the economy. The biggest problem is spending by the federal government. People were outraged that Congress would "bail out Wall Street" with $700 billion dollars of our money. Then, when the Senate took the same bill and added about $150 billion in pork to that same bill with little change, the rage died down. The House went lock step with the Senate and the president. This added an additional 10 percent to the already out of control federal debt.

The problem is the federal government's inability to control spending. If you watch any program on finances you know that anyone who borrows more than they can pay back is destined to bankruptcy. Our Federal Government is there. Look at your paychecks and see where your money is going. Look at the federal withholding, then compare to the state. It is completely out of whack.

So what do we do now? Bombard your senator and congressperson with letters and e-mails that you have had it. You don't want them bringing home the bacon. You want them to decrease the federal government by 25 to 30 percent. And do it now! And don't ask the federal government for another health care system. They already have three health care programs they can't manage; Medicare, Medicaid, and SSDI. We can't afford to give them another one. We can't afford this government. We need a real leader. Unfortunately, there isn't one in this election.
