ERIE COUNTY

Ohio 60 in Vermilion is closed beginning  Oct. 8 for a resurfacing project. The detour route for northbound motorists is Ohio 60 to South Street, west on South Street to Grand Street, north on Grand Street to U.S. 6, and reverse. The road is expected to reopen at the end of October. The project includes roadway resurfacing, curb reconstruction, drainage improvements, brick sidewalk installation, lighting, minor utility replacement, and tree planting.

U.S. 250 is restricted to one lane of bi-directional traffic. U.S. 250 traffic has shifted onto the current eastbound lanes, and one lane of traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction. A bridge rehabilitation and widening project on U.S. 250, at its overlap with State Route 113, will replace the existing structures over the Huron River and the abandoned railroad. Estimated end date is May 30, 2009.

The project includes roadway resurfacing, curb reconstruction, drainage improvements, brick sidewalk installation, lighting, minor utility replacement, and tree planting. Work has resumed as part of this streetscape project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. Estimated end date is Oct. 31.

U.S. 6, between Jefferson Street and Grand Street in Vermilion, and from Exchange Street to just west of Baumhart Road in Lorain County, will be restricted to one lane of two-way traffic beginning Sept. 29 as part of a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. Estimated end date is Nov. 15.

HURON COUNTY

U.S. 20 has intermittent lane closures for finalization work as part of this project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers.Two-lane resurfacing project on U.S. 20 from the end of its four-lane section on the east side of Norwalk to approximately State Route 58 in Lorain County. The project includes pavement planing, pavement and shoulder repairs, resurfacing with two inches of asphalt concrete, profile correction in Wakeman, guardrail, minor structure rehabilitation, and pavement markings. Estimated end date Oct. 31.

U.S. 224 has intermittent lane closures for finalization work as part of this project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers.

Two-lane resurfacing project on U.S. 224. The project includes pavement planing, pavement repairs, chip sealing, resurfacing with 1.5 inches of asphalt concrete, pavement markings and minor structure rehabilitation. Estimated end date is Oct. 15.

U.S. 250 will have intermittent single lane closures of short duration as crews mobilize heavy hauling equipment. No major impacts to traffic are expected; however, motorists are reminded to use caution when approaching the construction work zone. Railroad grade separation project on U.S. 250. The project will construct an overpass over the CSX railroad crossing on a new roadway alignment. The project will also include the construction of a new bridge spanning the Vermilion River. Estimated end date is Oct. 27.

OTTAWA COUNTY

Until the end of October, Ohio 163 will be closed between Ohio 105 and Ohio 19. Eastbound detour: Ohio 51; Ohio 579; Ohio 19. Westbound detour: Ohio 19; Ohio 2; Ohio 579. Call the Village of Oak Harbor for details. Estimated end date is Oct. 31.

Ohio 590 between Ohio 2 and Ohio 163 is closed for pavement reconstruction. All work is weather permitting. Estimated end date is Oct. 31.

SANDUSKY

U.S. 20 is being widened from two lanes to five from Busch Street in Woodville to Bradner Road. Lane widths in both directions are restricted to 11 feet throughout the construction zone. One lane will be maintained at all times. On Oct. 13, traffic will switch to the northern pavement in the U.S. 20 construction zone. Beginning Oct. 13, through Oct. 17, U.S. 23 at U.S. 20 will close for temporary pavement installation. Detour: Ohio 105. Through Oct. 13, Bradner Road north of U.S. 20 will be closed. Detour: Recker Road; Pemberville Road. Through Oct. 13, Fostoria Road north of U.S. 20 is closed for pavement reconstruction. Detour: Emch Road. Beginning Oct. 20, Bradner Road south of U.S. 20 will be closed. Detour: Pemberville Road. Through Oct. 9, Dutch Road at U.S. 20 is closed. Detour: Emch Road. Project complete: November 2009. All work is weather permitting.
