EHOVE vote an investment

EHOVE Career Center has a levy on the ballot in November. This levy is a renewal so no new tax burden will be placed on the home owner. The maintenance of the facilities at EHOVE Career Center is a top priority because of all of the hands on learning experiences the students receive.

I have taught in the Health Careers Program for 23 years at EHOVE Career Center and I have many great student success stories. Students who have started in the Health Careers Program have gone from Nurse Aids to Licensed Practical Nurses to Registered Nurses. In health care facilities, many of my former students hold head nurse positions, department heads or have moved up to the Director of Nursing position. EHOVE Career Center has served as a great place to start for many former graduates. In order for EHOVE to continue its fine quality education, I urge you to go out and vote for the renewal levy so the great education that students receive at EHOVE Career Center may continue for future generations. Voting yes today is an investment in tomorrow's future.

Slaves of the feds

In 2004 the Democrats kept defending Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac along with CEO Franklin Reins, who left with $9 million plus. He is now with the Obama campaign as financial adviser. These agencies were also giving our tax dollars to a left-wing organization called Acorn, which is giving this money to illegal immigrants to buy houses. Obama also has numerous connections to Acorn. Thanks goodness C-SPAN recorded the 2004 hearing. It was posted on YouTube but has been taken down. I wonder why?

Obama promises to give $50 billion of our tax dollars to the United Nations. Who do you think will receive this money? Obama says he won't raise taxes on the middle class. Where do you think he will get the money he wants for all those socialist programs? That's right. We are the largest bloc of taxpayers in America. If you want to know more about Obama, get the book "Rules for Radicals." Saul Alinski's son sent Obama a letter praising him for following the principles in this book and said his father, who wrote it, would be proud of Obama.

If you want your children and grandchildren to be slaves of the federal government, vote for Obama.

A team for the future

Obama and Biden are the perfect combination of vision and experience we need to get our economy back on track. A few reasons:

n Obama's plan to end the Iraq war will save over $100 billion a year.

n CNN and others say his tax plan is better for the vast majority of families.

n Financing "green energy" projects will provide jobs and break foreign oil's stanglehold on our economy.

n Plan for more affordable healthcare.

n Plan for replacing aging infrastructure means jobs.

This white, AFSCME retiree is tired of politics as usual. That is why I knocked on more than 5,000 doors for Obama and registered more than 300 voters so far; so my grandchildren will have a better life.

Ask yourself if you are better off than you were 8 years ago. Did the politics of fear and the exploitation of "hot button" issues save your job, keep your home, or fill your gas tank?

If you want to save the middle class, the Obama-Biden team is your best choice!

Anti-casino scare tactics

Once again, before it even appears on the ballot, the purists begin their scare tactics as the casino being the most unsavory element in our society, but in the next breath, see no wrong in weekly bingo games and tip tickets sakes at the church hall and in many situations the schools use their facilities for such functions. Let us not forget the most hypocritical rip-off of all, the Ohio Lottery.

Our social and veterans organizations were denied the right to offer such games of chance and were openly blackmailed into purchasing a costly license despite the fact they have contributed to many facets of the community for years and continue to do so.

Having talked with several senior citizens, for many, traveling to a casino provides their only source of entertainment and get-away for a day. Aside from the many games which have become highly technical, the offers include: Beautiful hotel accommodations, great food choices, fantastic shows and an array of other entities such as golf courses, pools, spas, shopping and convention facilities.

As far as being monitored for improprieties, this is and should be the function of the state. If you begin by mistrusting the casino, you cannot trust the state.
